The Kerulos Center of Southern Oregon is a sanctuary for animals that have suffered abuse or neglect. A number of rabbits have been rescued by the Center and live a beautiful natural life in the Rabitat Habitat. This spring, 24 special needs desert tortoises will join the sanctuary.
The Desert Tortoise Conservation Center (DTCC) in Nevada is closing because of declining federal budgets and will introduce all of their healthy tortoises into the wild. But there are 24 special needs tortoises that have injuries and deformities due to abuse and neglect they sustained as pets. These special needs tortoises were slated to be euthanized, but instead will come to the Tortoise and Hare Sanctuary at the Kerulos Center.
Pacific Domes is collaborating with the Kerulos Center to provide beautiful and safe shelter dwellings for the Tortoise to enjoy all year when they are not in brumation . We look forward to meeting these special animals and we are looking for sponsors! More information about how you can support the Tortoise and Hare project can be found at their website www.kerulos.org
