Sporting seven high-tech geodesic domes manufactured by Pacific Domes, Island Lodge is located on a private island 45 minutes from Stockholm in the Swedish archipelago, surrounded by thousands of other islands covered with native forest.

You pull up by boat to a small dock in a little cove, with a safari-style camp at the end of the shore. It’s a couple minutes walk up an easy incline to the camp tents. The domes feature blond hardwood floors, animal skin rugs, fantastic beds with Mille Notti fine linens and a wood burning iron stove. There are six orbital windows in each tent so you have great views of the woods around you.
Dinner is served family style in the safari tent. Food tastes awesome in the outdoors here, where visiting fine-dining chefs from the city prepare your meal by the water. A sample menu includes smoked, beer-dipped Dutch mussels and dry aged Australian strip with bearnaise and wild garlic. During dinner, a staff member is burning firewood to heat up the stovepipe hot tub on the edge of a small cliff above the water.
After everyone finishes their coffee and cordials, those in the group who are interested head up to the hot tub. The water is deliciously warm, even on a cold night. Champagne is served. It’s an amazing experience where you feel so connected to nature that you wonder why you don’t relax like this more in your life. You discover your true essence at Island Lodge, removed from civilization, but within the context of a shared group experience. This is a luxury program for top tier groups, but with a more layered definition of the word “luxury” than what many of us consider common.
